More About Surgical Technologist
The Surgical Technologist is a member of the operating room staff that assists in surgery. They are typically responsible for preparing the operating room for the procedure, arranging the equipment, and assisting the surgeon. Some of their duties may include:
- Sterilize the equipment that will be used and make sure there are enough supplies available
- Ready the patient by washing and disinfecting the surgery site
- Passing the surgical instruments and other sterile supplies during the procedure
- Count supplies, such as sponges and instruments
- Maintain a sterile environment
- Apply bandages and other dressing after the procedure
